Memorandum of Intent

AVI/SIAE



The Italian Video and Media Archive Association (AVI) and Italian Society of Authors and Publishers (SIAE) have signed a Memorandum of intent to regulate the management and use of audiovisual works in libraries, video libraries and media libraries open to the public. The agreement guarantees respect for copyright, protects against piracy and encourages the legal distribution of film and audiovisual culture in libraries, schools, universities and other cultural institutions.

Benefits of the Memorandum

Copyright protection. It regulates the lending and consultation of audiovisual materials in accordance with the law.
Protection against piracy. Application of the SIAE label guarantees the traceability of works.
To facilitate screening. It distinguishes between public screenings, subject to copyright, and internal screenings for study and research purposes, which do not require additional payments.
Easier access to SIAE labels. The process for requesting labels for audiovisual materials loaned is simple for participating libraries and media archives.
Clear loan procedures. It establishes the timings and manner of distributing audiovisual works, ensuring access is legal and regulated.

Thanks to this memorandum, the AVI has consolidated its commitment to promoting audiovisual culture, offering its members practical tools for operating in accordance with the law.
